HPProductAssistant disk demanded at bootup a year after installation

I have two different HP printers connected to my PC, and I *love* both
of them. Now suddently, a year after installing the newer photo-
quality printer, when I reboot, a dialog box opens saying, "Insert the
HPProductAssistant disk and click OK." No matter how I respond, it
keeps asking for it. Eventually, after many attempts, it finally
closes. This happens every time I reboot.

Since this began after an "install updates" message during shutdown, I
assume some new update is asking for the disk. How can HP do this to
loyal customers? -- expect us to keep a disk handy for years, and
then suddenly demand it?

Is there some way to turn this off, without digging through my
basement and attic for an old installation disk?

Thanks.

Make sure you have that latest drivers for the printers downloaded from HP,
NOT from Microsoft.
Regards Mike.

I have never knowingly downloaded a driver for this printer -- just
installed it originally with the CD that came with it in the box.

Is it possible that a Windows Update replaced the original driver with
a new one from Microsoft?

Thanks.
