Windows XP hpcmpmgr.exe

Don't supply too much information there whatever you do mate :D

I got one for you - how can I make a million quid?

Seriously - could you provide a little more info - what is that application, what does it do and why is it causing you grief? Possibly spyware?

Now I know what it is, I can say I actually suffered from that as well, cheesed me right off.

Well done VR, I feeling lazy tonight ;)

I just took it out of the start-up folder using reg cleaner, it doesn't run now unless I want it to.

You can't edit your post and hide it from us ... we see all. :p

But your right ... . :D

Thank you for your reply. The hp jobby offers to end now or data will be lost. Then an error report to microsoft is offered.

How can I get rid of hpcmpmgr.exe on shutdown?

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/hpcmpmgr/

It's the Hewlett Packard Component Mamager for processing informing for HP's multimedia products.

If you don't use it disable it, I would be reluctant to get rid of it in case it might be used elsewhere in your system.

I use The Ultimate Troubleshooter to control appications, utilities & services running on mky computer.

http://www.answersthatwork.com/TUT_pages/TUT_information.htm

The information provided on many applications, services & utilities is comprehensive & informative.

Thank you Malcolm W!
Tried trial free download of 'Registry Mechanic' but made no difference. Quarantine using 'Security Task Manager' did the trick. i am a beginner but assume your solution was similar.
Thanks again.

Thankyou Floppy Boot Stomp! Free trial download of 'Security Task Manager' seems to have worked.
Cheers

If it is quarantined then presumably it is inacessible. The Ultimate Troubleshooter (TUT) enables you to control how the file starts or not: auto, manually or disabled. In manual mode if that file is called by the system it starts to run. If disabled it has to be started by the user through TUT.

TUT has a information on the function of all the files & services running on the computer & setting recommendations on how to deal with them. There are other facilities in the programme as well.

Malcolm
The hp thing does not now appear at switch off and the HP printer still works. I will try your suggestion.
