Translation:
'I need to buy a wide format printer, but can't decide which one,
EPSON 10600 o HP 5000PS. This would be for work in a printing center
for CAD, posters, plans, etc. Which one would be recommended according
to cost and expenses? Any differences among them? Is Epson really of
less quality and less expensive?

Te puedo tratar de escribir un sumario de las respuestas si es
necesario.

Not to sure of the ink systems, but I'd favour the Epson, and install a CIS
system.

The 10600 is a wide format which uses large (110 or 220 ml cartridges).
You might say it already has a CIS installed in it.

Are you sure Authur? I'm going totally by memory on this.. I rather
thought that the 9600 took the 1/4 liter (or so) cartridges and the
10600 took the 1/2 liter. I believe the 9600 there was a CIS about,
where I haven't seen (or looked for) one for the 10600. Could be that
9600 users are into the photograhic side of wide format printing where
10600 are more keen on diagram printing, either that or no bugger wants
6 liter or gallon jugs on the floor. I also seem to recall that the
ink for the 10000/10600 floated at about 40c/ml for OEM.

You may be correct about the cartridge sizes, I'm going from memory.
The 10600 is a LARGE printer, and it is used for photographic images as
well as diagram printing.

As you know, it uses the Ultrachrome inks, which some people like, as
opposed to 3rd party inks. I wasn't really suggesting people might not
want to use cheaper 3rd party bulk inks, just that the printer is
basically already set up as a CIS, and probably only needs a couple of
dummy cartridges and a few feet of tubing to become a CIS.

Ultrachrome ink, dye, and one other I can't remember off the top of my
head. (I cheated) simply called "archival" I was mostly quoting the
ink cost as the parent poster was interested in things like running
cost. US $170 each for the dye, US $200 each for the archival. I'm
sure there are cheaper aftermarket solutions but more important are
those users who want oil based ink or solvent. Pretty sure this
printer is based on a xaar head.

Though, i'm surprised given the choices the Mutoh RJ-6100 isn't on the
list of things to consider. 1/2 the ink capacity (IIRC) but also a
fine printer in this class, and did sell for less than the 10600 before
it was discontinued IIRC.

As I recall it uses the same head design as the Epsons (gee, wonder
where they got it from?)
