At beginning it all did work fine, but now every time I do scann with
my HP2575, I am getting the first scann OK, but then an error sign is
lit on the 2575 (flashing exclamation) and nothing works any more.
MOstly it is also not possible to switch the whole unit off, the green
button flashes too, I can only remove the power to reset it all
somehow.

Is this known, or am I doing something wrong?

I run it on w2k via LAN connection, printing is fine, but scanner
makes probles only.

I checkd the scanner now , and it is as follows.

the scanner warms up and scanns the page as usual.
The Lamp moves across the page as usual from right to left.
It stops short on the far left side, then tries to return apparently
to the righ side. Travels here only abt 10mm and stops and exactly in
this moment the whole unit get stuck, the warning flashes and there
seems to be no more even reset possibility other then pulling the
power cord.

The scanned picture is in the computer fine, but after each page, the
unit has to be resetet by power off. After power off, the lamp moves
again back to its 'garage' on the right side and all is ready for work
again.

Can someone tell me what to do here? is there some sensor at the end
on the left side which might be deffective?

Just a guess, but it may be that something is getting tangled (some
scanners use cables around pulleys or gears to move the scanner bar) or
perhaps the lubrication is poor on the guide bars, so it is snagging and
wedging on the bushing.

I don't know how brave you are feeling or how easy it is to open the
scanner to view and work on the mechanics.

I am brave in that respect in general, but have seen that this one is
still under waranty so will bring it where it came from.

Ust wonder:
got a new HP2575 , exactly the same. Conntected it to the net where
the broken one was. OK it did issue new IP. Printer works fine,
scanner refuses to do anything at all, however it works when operated
localy (on the 2575 itself).

The driver seems simply not be able to fimd the new IP.
So set the IP to the old IP manualy, scanner driver works again!

After next reboot of the computer (w2k) all scanning stopped again,
the driver can not find the scanner. When scanning from the webpage of
the 2575, all works.

I would like however the twain scanner driver to be present further in
acrobat or other apps. Could so far not find any way to set the IP or
other parameters for the scanner driver.

Where to do this? Somewhere in the registry?
