HP Universal Printer Driver & Vista

All know there are issues with this driver - Microsoft and HP acknowledge
this. My question is, has anybody gotten this Vista printer driver to work?
If yes, how'd you do it?

No.
Crashes with fault in colorui.dll when you try to open the properties.

Don't know why it's still available for d/l at HP, since it just doesn't
work, regardless of who's fault it is.
 
I just posted a detailed message about how I was able to get it to work.
My guess is those steps should work for you too.
