hp scanner installtion

when i put the software for the jp 3200c scanjet to reinstall it i get an
errorr stating, "16 bit window subsystem: this file not sutible for running
msdos and mswindow application c:\win\sys32\autoeve.net"

Can any one help me fingure out what is going on?
