HP Scanjet3400C no longer working

Following installation of the following Security Updates
for Windows XP my HP Scanjet3400C scanner no longer
works. I tried to re-install it using the software but
receive a message that this software is not supported.

Could someone please tell me how to uninstall the security
updates so I can once again use my scanner.

First of all, note that HP products have a history of combating xp. I'm not
an expert but do own 8 or 10 machines that all run xp or pro and i use hp
printers, all-in-ones etc. exclusively. The software probably is supported.
I don't know what year a 3400C came out but if it was designed for 98, it
may not work yet. get the latest drivers from hp.com and try again. May
have to uninstall before you install a printer. Need more info. Or see

korner and doug knox. All of whom are savvy XP MVP professionals and highly
regarded on this forum.

1. Not supported or just not certified. Software that didn't go
through the XP authentication often works but work anyway. As for the
latest drivers and software, go to http://www.hp.com and look under
drivers and updates for scanjet 4300c and then windows XP.

By the way, using a 4200C on Windows XP I had frequent trouble with the
scanner becoming unavailable. I finally went into the associations and
discovered the buttons were all programmed to bring up all the options
in the HP Scanning software.
