HP Scanjet temp files

I just found out that the HP software is leaving full image files in the
temp directory any time I use the "photo" button on the scanner. It doesn't
do this when I scan from the software or from Photoshop.

Has anyone found a hack for this behavior? HP "support" says this is by
design, and I'm supposed to clean my temp folder manually. I say it's just
really sloppy programming.

It may be sloppy programming, but a lot of Windows software leaves stuff in
the \Windows\temp folder.

Everybody should do a Drive Clean up periodically and delete stuff in the
temp folder and in Internet Explorer Temporary Internet Files.

I do, I just don't need to be forced to do it every time I scan. The driver
allows you to set the "save location" for all other types of scanning, but
refuses to adhere to this setting when you use the button.

Of course I don't use I.E , but if I did, it would be set to delete at
closing. Use FireFox and turn off the disc cache completely.

You didnt' say which HP software you're using. I don't remember having that
problem with Proscan2, and with HP Image Zone 5 it creates a directory under
%temp% where the images stay during a batch scan, but as soon as I close the
scanning applet they get moved to the scan-to location and the directory is
deleted.

Scanjet 5590, driver version 2.5 If I scan to file, no temp is left behind.
Scan to Photoshop and the temp file is left
