Gang,

I'm hoping someone has a solution to a minor problem I've encountered with
a HP ScanJet 5P (C5110A) that I picked up second hand. The problem is as
follows.

When I press the green Scan button I get the message title "Still Image
Services Error Message", with the description "The application associated
with this event could not be launched. Make sure the application is
available and functioning". However when I run the HP DeskScan II software
(freshly downloaded from the HP site) it works fine.

For some reason the Scan button doesn´t launch the application. My system
is a PII 350 MHz with 64 M ram, running Win98.

Anyone got any ideas/suggestions?

It's late and this is from memory, but... IIRC there is somewhere you
configure what action is started when you press the button. Have you found
and configured this yet? If you haven't found it, I can fire up my old P300
and try and find out where it lives.

(My 5P is currently hung off a *nix box)

David,

Thanks, that sorted out the problem - hadn't realised there was a new icon
in Control Panel. Had to re-install the DeskScan software (very short job)
to get it to work OK. Pushing green button now launches DeskScan software
(there is the option of launching the Imaging software, but it cant see the
scanner if I set it up this way - no prob to me though).

Thanks
