Help please with disassembling this scanner.

The cover is off & the 4 small screws which apparently secure the
black base to the off-white plastic surround for the glass have been
removed, but the 2 halves remain firmly attached together.

What's the trick?

I have the user manual (27 page 1.5MB pdf file) but that is no help.
Does a proper service/repair manual exist?

TIA for any help

most likely has some small clip tabs inside holding it together and
another thing it may lift off from one end.

I just opened up my 4370. It comes apart in the middle between the two
clamshells, There is a tiny, tiny groove there into which you can insert the
blade of a wide thin-bladed screwdriver and do a slight twist. They pop open
a millimeter or so, and then you can wiggle them loose.

BTW my problem is hat it suddenly stopped scanning full-page. Now it scans
about an inch then halts. All kinds of 800-numbers, many hours and 20 bucks
(for a year's clean-up service, and still no fix. Any suggestions?

Angelo Campanella.

Check the motor, the drive belt and the bits that physically move the scan
head across the glass, make sure they are free to move and dont jam.
