I just bought this scanner, but I have not been able to scan 48bit
images with it, although it says it is a 48bit scanner. I don't see
any setting in the software that came with it.

It seems that this scanner is also not supported by either Vuescan or
SilverFast. Does anyone know of any other third party software I can
use with it? Any general tips for scanning with it?

Thanks

Believe that one of HP "white lie" models. Scans in 48 bit (we assume)
but won't save or output to 48. Seems like the Macintosh version of the
software is the only way can save 48bit, if memory serves from posts I've
read here.

After a bit of digging in the options, I actualy found it. In Scan
Preferences - Quality vs. Speed there is a setting to enable 48 bits.
But I am still dissapointed by the poor third party support. The color
correction and level adjustments are too limited in the supplied
driver.

But does it SAVE 48 bit file?

That is an HP thing. My 7450 advertised the same thing but in small
print is explains how you can only save 48bit with a Mac. Nice ha?

Yeah. That's what I thought the situtation was. HP sux (to use tech
term).

It works with Photoshop 7. Your graphics app must support 48bits.

It works as well in PS6 and 5(IIRC).
File/Import/<Your scanner>
and here you are - 16 bits per channel. :)
