I just got a used one but no manual. On first try with XP it works a hell
of a lot better than my Visioneer, what a POS. Also how does one turn off
the lamp, it seems to stay on after I'm fininished. What is lamp life and
what do they cost? Any tips appreciated.
tnx

thanks, great site, I updated my driver. But I couldn't find anything on
bulb life? How long do they last and what does a replacement cost?

I wonder if these lamps would make a good source for digital photography?
Scanners at thrift stores sell for around $5.00.

Probably not for digital camera use.
They are not that bright and no reflector.

If you mean as a replacement in a Good Will bought scanner, maybe. I did not
see any listed that were 9 inches, which is what scanners use.

For cheap lights, two clip-on lamps with a 100 watt household bulb is the
cheapest lamp you can use with a digital camera, just set the White Balance
to tungsten.

The kind of lamp you get at a hardware store or department store (Wal-Mart)
that have the clamp and reflector that you screw in an ordinary light bulb.
