Does anyone know the values/specs for this fuse? I'm trying to replace it
and can't find the info anywhere. HP is useless for information.

Thanks, Daryl

It is not stamped on the fuse end caps ?
Otherwise, find an authorized hp scanner center and call them.

As I said, HP is no help. The fuse caps only say 125/250V and SLEEK. I've
been able to investigate to find out that they are made by Sleek Co., Inc.,
a Taiwanese company. I've contacted them to no avail. I've called and
written to HP. HP actually said they were "unable" to give me that
information. The guy at HP I talked to on the phone said that information
was "classified". I've called the service center (Radio Shack of all
places), who referred me to a central service place who didn't know
anything, but referred me to a place called Vance Baldwin who also didn't
know where to get the information.
On a positive note, I asked Littelfuse if they knew what it was, and an
actual person called me back and tried to help. If I can just get in touch
with one person with a schematic on this thing.

Yes, I have tried each and every one of those avenues. On one phone call, I
spoke to no less than 4 people. Of those, I think one actually tried to find
out the information, the rest either passed me to another area or said they
couldn't tell me. I do think that if I found the right person at HP that
they could help, but finding that person seems to be quite difficult.

Thanks for trying, Daryl

What does the power supply say the current load is?

A good rule of thumb is to use a fuse that is about 10-50% more than the
supply rating.

I have never seen a fuse that had the voltage rating, that did not also have
the current rating stamped or printed on it.

Quote from you: "The fuse caps only say 125/250V and SLEEK".

Maybe SLEEK is SLnnn and you are not reading the number correctly, get a
magnifying glass and look closely. SL=slo?

Here is a page from Jameco's Catalog. You need Adobe Reader to view.
http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/Products/ProdCT/p054.pdf

There are slow blow fuses that are MDL/3AG on the above page.

The power supply says:
INPUT-100-120V-60Hz,0.45A
OUTPUT-:+12V---1.25A

As for the SLEEK, it really says SLEEK. I've been to their website.
http://www.microfuse.com
If I can't get it pinned down specifically, I'm just gonna have to SWAG it.
Thanks for the input.

Daryl

OK. I just stared at the fuse cap with fresh eyes under a blinding hot light
and had a D'oh moment. The thing I thought was a / was an A or at least part
of an A. So it would seem to be 1.25A. Does anyone have any suggestions as
to duration (fast or slo-blo)?

And thanks again for the input.

You have answered your own question.

The device is drawing 0.456 (maximum) amps from the power line, and you could safely use
any fuse with a rating anywhere between 0.75 amp and 1.0 amp ("slow blow" recommended) and
be perfectly fine. In fact, a 1 amp "slow blow" fuse would probably be an appropriate
choice.
