Has anybody actually used the restore discs and it worked??
I ran into some issues,
1. Using the restore cd's I booted to them and formatted the hd, removing
also the restore partition, at first it wouldn't create the restore
partition, using Partition Magic, I was able to create and format the restore
partition, and using the restore cd's, it did create the proper restore
partition.
2. it then (after loading all the restore cd's said it was unable to create
the users partition, so using PM I created and formatted it, it appeared to
install windows XP home, however it wouldn't boot to windows, it keeps
booting to the restore partition.
I've tried various combinations of marking the restore part as
inactive/invisible and the users part as active, but it never boots to it, I
just get the black screen with a blinking cursor, then the power supply died
now I have to wait till the new one comes in. and try a routine that HP gave
me, I just wnated to touch bases with anybody who has seen this before and
knew a way that worked for certain.
