I have an HP PSC 2510 where the modem has been "zapped" by a surge or
something. The machine won't even power on if the card is left inside
-- it just keeps hourglassing and rebooting.
I removed the fax card. The machine will now scan, copy and print but
won't fax. The HP part number of the fax board is Q3083-60179. I e-
mailed HP and all they said was "consider upgrading to a newer unit"
-- they don't sell the fax board.
Why would I want to invest 100's of dollars into a new machine when
this one is adequate? All I need is the fax board out of another used
machine -- nowhere near the cost of $100.
What I would like to know from the group (possibly Bob Headrick would
know) is what other HP machines use this same part number,
Q3083-60179? That way, I can probably buy a discarded machine from a
thrift shop to fix mine, but I do need to know what to look for.
Thank you!
