Hi My printer i have installed was working fine then one
day decided that would not scan when requested through hp
director. error message was computer unable to get
connection with scanner. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled printer, new usb cable and also check system
bios. I have now check my device manager and this is
giving this error message on device status 'Windows
cannot start this hardware device because its
configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete
or damaged.(code 19). Please help what do i do?

Hi Natalie --

You might try stopping and restarting the WIA service. It's a long shot, but
it's easy to try.

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Click Services
Scroll down the list of services until you see, "Windows Imaging
Acquisition"
Right click and select 'stop'
Right click and select 'restart'
Reboot for good measure and then try to scan. You should try both from an
application such as 'Paint' and from the 'Scanner and Camera Wizard.'

When you uninstalled the printer did you use HP uninstallation utility? That
might be worth trying if you did not.

Finally, if you're not having any luck, you may try contacting HP. They may
be able to help solve your problem.
