Thank you, good friends. All good suggestions. HP Printer, brand new, received Friday, set it up. Get error on front panel - No Printhead. The print cartrides (2) (black and color) were installed new last week on old printer, transferred them to new machine Friday. I've inserted, re-inserted. Color cartirdge o.k. black cartrdge also seems to be o.k. Worked great when received lat week and installed in new printer. What the heck is wrong.
 
HP has a sneaky little thing where the gold contacts will "time out". Expect
to replace the ink cartridges every 6 months, whether you use them or not.
You have installed the cartridge from the old printer, is this correct? If
it is even compatible, it has probably lost it's contact.
