I Have a HP Pavillion 7733 with Vista Home Premium. My printer is a HP
LJ1300 which previously has been used on XP.
When I plug In on the Vista machine I get the sound - and a new device
appears in device properties under IEEE1284.4 devices. The unit is
correctly identified as a "HP LaserJet 1300 series (DOT4USB)".
However, the printer has not been installed under "Printers".
I have then fried to install a std. HP LJ1300 using LPT1:
Afterwards I have tried to change the port to Dot4_USB - but there are
no Dot4 ports available. After contact with HP support I have
downloaded the program
"ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software8/COL17364/dj-46093-3/HP_Vista_SF_Ph1.exe"...
After installing this program the system reports that the Dot4 ports
are installed. But no change. The printer appears under 1284.4 devices
- but not under printers - and the only ports available are Local or
TCP/IP..
I would very much appreciate any help on this matter.
