HP printer problem

I have an HP Deskjet 950C. I d/l the software and drivers
from HP's website. The printer shows to be installed but
will not print a test page or anything else. I have tried
the printer wizard without success. I have tried both the
USB and parallel connections. When I boot-up the computer
the new hardward device icon shows momentarily in the
system tray but never brings up the window to proceed.
I've been working on this for 3 weeks now - any help is
greatly appreciated!!!

Let's try going back to the start and uninstalling the printer completely by
following the instructions at
http://www.coribright.com/windows/Article One.htm

After the reboot, go to the website and download the new driver package from
HP (www.hp.com)

Install the software and only connect the printer (preferably to the USB
port) when the software tells you to do so.
