hp printer compatibility issue

I have a new hp pavilion with all in one printer.
I have installed and reinstalled numerous times. Before I
install the printer software, the programs run fine.
After installing printer software, the hp imgaging
program doesn't work right anymore. I keep getting the
message: Windows is configuring Creative Projects, or
Windows is configuring Photo Gallery. Then it can't find
the program and keeps giving me continuing messages.

HP says there are compatibility issues between XP and
their printer software and I should download Windows
2000. This seems strange to me since the system came with
XP. By the way, I have used 2 different cd roms for the
printer download since they first said the original might
have been corrupted but same problem with both.

I cannot resolve this issue with hp. Do you have a fix?

Return the thing and get your money back and buy a IBM clone
with the complete version of XP.

First thing you do is wait more than a few minutes for a reply to your
posts. The second thing you do is find Windows 2000 drivers, not the
operating system, for your printer. They might work. If the printer is
new, it should have XP drivers and they should install when you install the
software. The third thing you do is make sure you are following the
instructions for installation to the letter, as some hardware is very
particular about how it is installed.
