I just bought the above hardware and it worked great (1)
time. Now when I scan a picture and try to open it in the
gallery the computer just locks-up. It keeps saying I
don't have enough virtual memory but I've incresed that
and nothing changes. Is anyone familiar with the HP
Photosmart that can give me some thoughts on what's going
wrong? I'm running Window XP Professional with an Athlon
Processor, 807 MHz and 128 MB of Ram. I still have 82% of
memory available. I appreciate the help because this is
driving me crazy.

Running WindowsXP with anything less than 256M RAM is useless - M$
saying that 64M is supported is BS. I personally recommend a minimum
of 512M. All that's for basic SOHO applications (M$ Office, internet,
checkbook, etc).

I would imagine that Photosmart (photo imaging / scanning ?) needs
even more system resources. I have a 1.6G P4 with 756M, and I see
significant performance when I run any photo imaging program.

You have 82% of memory available - is this before it locks up? Is
this physical or virtual memory? What do you do to clear the
"lock-up"?

Please add another 128M at least. That would be a good start.

.

Update your drivers from the hp website and increase your
ram to 512mb, 128mb is only enough to run xp, if you open
any program at all you will not have enough
