I love my new HP Photosmart 8450, but the software has apparently
changed the behavior of my laptop. If I leave it unattended for even a
few minutes, it displays only the background, and then I have to click
on my name on a new screen to resume work. A rollback followed by
reinstallation of the software indicates that it's the HP software that
did it. It's a minor irritation, but if there's a way to eliminate
this extra step, I'd appreciate finding out. Thanks.

I think it is a coincidence that this happened with the installation of the
Photosmart software. It sounds like you have activated your screen saver. Try
the following: right click on an empty space on the desktop. Select
"properties", then "screen saver". In the "wait" box put in a large number
such as 999 to delay 999 minutes for the screen saver to activate.

It's a different screen than my screen saver, but I tried what you
suggested, and it seems to be working. Thanks!
