I'll bet the 6230i requires the user to input the device address of the
device it's trying to locate. I'll also suggest that you 'think' the
device address of the generic bt stick is all 0's because that's what
is displayed in the HP 8050's printer menu.
The most likely reason the printer shows 0's in the printer menu is
because the printer menu logic is incompatible with this generic BT
stick, and is unable to determine this data. In fact, if you read the
specs of the HP 8050 printer, it says that this printer is comptabile
only with the HP bt450 wireless bluetooth adapter. The HP BT stick
probably communicates this extra data to the printer in a proprietary
format that the generic BT stick is unable to do.
I doubt that the generic BT stick's address is 0's, otherwise your
mobile 6230 probably wouldn't connect to it. The printer can't change
it.
So, unless you can determine the generic BT's stick device address
through other means, you may be SOL with the 6230i.

Anyone know how to change the MAC from 00:00:00:00:00:00 ?
I have Nokia 6230 and 6230i mobiles, and while the 6230 can connect to the
printer via a generic BT stick, the 6230i won´t. this may come from the
unusual MAC number, or any further ideas?
TIA, Martin
I thought the MAC is stored in the driver, in this case the printer
firmware. Well, it may be HPs way to "encourage " people to buy their BT
adapter (60 Euros in Germany, recommended price, no one has it stocked...)
instead of a generic (< 10 Euros up).
