I got this printer for Xmas and it does a fantastic job of printing.
However, there are a couple of problems I've run into.

1. When it starts up, it makes a very loud buzzing or grinding sound.
I don't hear this again until I power it off and on again or reboot my
Win XP computer. The print cartridges are installed correctly and
everything prints fine.

2. When I reboot my computer (but NOT on initial startup), I get page
after unprinted page spitting out of the printer until I cancel the
phantom print job. After that it works fine.

I do have the duplexing unit attached, but use the original paper
tray.

Here I am following myself up. said:

I emailed HP tech support after I wrote this and figured it would take
some time to get a reply. Not so. I got a detailed fix for my first
problem via email.

I did electronic and mechanical resets and the noise problem was
fixed. FWIW, I had tried repeatedly to reseat the cartridges and this
did not fix the problem. I am familiar with installing them, as the
process is similar to the 5550 printer I used before getting this one.

This morphed into a new problem after the hard resets, but a problelm
that I found a fix for on HP's web site:

HP Photosmart Printers - During Start-Up the Printer Produces Two or
Three Pages Containing USBCrut or Other USB References

I *do* have a recent Dell Dimension computer and changing the BIOS
cured the problem. I think the blank pages seen before was just a
variation of this problem.
