HP Photosmart 2710 bluescreen

I have a friends' printer that I'm trying to repair. They tell me it
was on during a storm and now upon power-up after the "hp invent" logo
the display goes to "bluescreen" with an error msg "error: 0x????????"
All the fron panel lights blink.

It appears as if the firmware (not software drivers) is corrupted, does
anyone know of a way to re-load it? where to get it?

I hope it is in warranty!
I suspect a lightning strike has damaged the logic board or power supply.
It is unlikely to be firmware.
