More like none in one.

Heya all. got a Fujitsu-Siemens Avilo where we just repaired the
windows on, reinstalled the VIA chippie drivers and then I run All in
one. Just about every function gets installed. The system (xp)
registers that a new printer is there but cant find the driver and we
cant add it manually despite using the driver cd or the new downloaded
drivers from HPs site.

What do I do (or dont do) right?

Installed a couple of printers in my life but nothing like this. Its
on the USB btw...

I don't know the specifics, but in many cases with USB printers, you
must install the drivers BEFORE connecting the printer for the first
time. This is true of many USB devices which do not have "in-box"
drivers within the OS. Because USB devices are hot swapping, meaning
they can be plugged in or removed at will while the computer is
operating, the computer's USB posts are always active and looking for
changes in the device registry. The first thing the OS tries to do,
therefore is to install or activate the drivers to make the device
active and functional. It will sometimes search for the drivers within
the system and try to install something that it thinks might work, or it
may attempt to use drivers that are already loaded. This can create
some conflicts.

Instead, most USB devices require that the driver components be
installed before the peripheral is ever connected to the computer.
Then, when the device is plugged in, the OS looks for the driver
components and makes the proper association with the device, which it
now recognizes.

To correct this problem you may have to uninstall any drivers that were
installed, and then follow the instructions to install your USB device,
which may require the drivers be pre-installed prior to connecting the
device.
