My kids bought me an HP Pavillion for my birthday. I found the with high end games it is glitchy. I talked with ABC Warehouse where they purchased it and they said that it was because the Pavillions use a shared memory system and I should purchase a 128mb video card to solve my problems

I don't want to go out and spend $140.00 just to find out I have the wrong type of card or that it is not compatible with my system. Has anyone purchased a video card for their Pavillion? What kind do you recommend? I've looked at the Nivida 128 and the ATI Wonder 128 and the GeForce 3 but I don't understand the differences

My System: HP Pavillion, 2.8gz, 512mb DDR SDRAM, 120gb GD, Intel extreme graphics with 64 mb shared video memory

Please hel

Hi,I have an HP 750n with 1 gig of ram,I replaced the

then I did'nt have any with the 32mb card that came with
it either.
Indexing service in Admin tools>services may cause
problems with games Disable it.The link below discribes
window services and what they do,I would shut off all you
don't need you will have better performance and a more
secure system ie...(Remote printer and file sharing??
Remote desktop??? Remote assistance???)Just a few that
are doorways for somebody to get on your system.

Yep My H/P was choopy for the kids games, only had 32
shared memory, best buy had a 64MB card that fixed it,
cost bout 60 bucks.128MB could be better but 64MB will
run 99.9% of all games on the market.some things you'll
need to know B-4 you go shopping,do you have an APG slot?
2 kind of video APG and PCI,my Pavillion doesn't have an
APG slot, had to get the PCI card, also after install
you'll have to go into the bios and shut off your shared
video memory. It'll be in the insructions for install. If
you've ever opened up a computer. If not you may feel
comfey having best buy or your favorite C store doing it
for you,not hard grounding straps recomended,if you don't
have one make sure you hold onto the frame over 5 sec. to
releive static,I always stay contacted to the frame while
working inside, good luck I'll see you in the games.
