HP P1100 does not accept color cartridge

My HP P1100 Photsmart printer will not accept a genuine HP 78a color
cartridge. Error message: Color cartridge not compatible. Use appropriate HP
cartridge.

Can anybody tell me how to solve this?

Try cleaning the cartridge and printer contacts as shown at the
following:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=bpa02060

If this does not fix the issue then check the cartridge warranty at
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bua02014.
Assuming the cartridge is still within its two year warranty contact HP
or your dealer for a replacement.
