HP Officejet D145 - Date/Time setting won't hold after battery replacement???

After replacing the CMOS battery on this unit, the date won't hold
after cycling the power. It resets to JAN00.00 00:00am. All other
settings hold. Leaving the battery out for an hour and replacing
does not help.

Is there a trick to this unit to get the date to hold? Seems other
people have had this problem, but I haven't found the solution. Any
help is appreciated.

TIA

Make sure you have the battery installed with the correct polarity. If the
battery has been put in backwards it may need to be replaced.

Thanks for the reply.

MINUS(-) side is down toward circuit board, POSITIVE(+) side is
facing up...

Assuming the battery was installed correctly in the first place, is
there any other "trick" that needs to be done to get the date/time
to hold after power cycling? Buttons that need to be pressed, etc.?
