HP Officejet D135 and Linux: headcleaning?

Running hpoj and CUPS with this printer, which stays up 24/7 like the
rest of the systems. It does headcleaning if power cycled, but
apparently not otherwise. Neither hpoj or its replacement HPLIP mention
this ability so far as I can tell.

Anyone have a clue as to how the headcleaning routine can be initiated
by the print server?

Thanks,

The printer will automatically do the servicing needed to keep the
printheads clear in most cases. Manually cleaning the heads, especially
on a regular basis will just waste ink and clog up the printers service
station. That said, you can clean the printheads manually from the
front panel. From the manual at
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/bpu06030.pdf:

"Use this feature when the Self-Test Report shows streaking or white
lines
through any of the colored bars. Do not clean printheads unnecessarily.
This
wastes ink and shortens the life of your printheads.

1 Press Menu.
2 Press 7, then press 2.

This selects the Status and Maintenance menu, then selects the Clean
PrintHeads option.

If copy or print quality still seem poor after you clean the printheads,
replace the printhead that is affected."
