I have just tried to install our printer, and after puting the CD in. It says it is not compatable with WinXP Pro. Went to HP and downloaded the drivers they offered. " Almost 2 hrs ". It put an icon on the desktop and it will bring up the pane that offers all of the services, but it says no communications with printer.
Went into device manager and there is no sign of a pringer.
Shut system down, rebooted and the same thing.

Tried the compatibility wizzard and that was a joke. Went into properties and set it to run with Win2000
Still nothing. CD will not install.

Any help would be great
Dave

If the message is that the drivers on the CD you have are incompatible with
XP, there is no point in trying to use them.

Check the driver version/date and see if you have the latest.

As you have noticed, the download will take a while especially over a
dial-up connection. You might prefer to order the CD with XP drivers-

Assure that the cable is IEEE certified, that there are no bent pins in the
connectors at either end, and that it is properly/firmly attached.

Let us know.
