I have a disk to install this printer on Windows XP, it
worked OK on Windows 95 but when I install it on Windows
XP, it won't print in color and I get a lot of error
messages. The Printer Test Page gives the environment as
Windows NT x86. I think that this may be the problem.
Also, when I install the drivers, I get a message that
it "has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its
compatability with Windows XP." I have tried and tried
to get this straightened out with HP, but a second disk
they sent me had the same problem. I can't even clean my
print heads, as the program will not allow me to enter
the window for HP Officejet 500 series printers, it tells
me to make another selection. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

You need to download an XP compatible driver for your printer from HP web
site.
When you download the driver make sure your printer is unplugged from the
computer until you download the XP driver then connect it when it tells you
too or after the driver has been installed.

I will try again. Last time when I went to download it,
they put me into a window to buy a disk for it, and I
went there a week or two ago wanting to download because
the one they mailed me was obviously not the right
driver, and they discourage you from downloading as they
say it takes a lot of time. But maybe they have
corrected the on-line driver. If you suggest that, I
will just have to bite the bullet and let it download for
three hours.

Why do you say obviously they sold you the wrong disk? How did you come to
this conclusion?

3 hours? What kinda of connection do you have? I downloaded a HP driver
for my 930 printer and took about 45 min on dial up 56k. Anyway, yes you
have a choice to buy the disc or download. I don't know how someone put you
in a window to buy a disk? You do have to pay close attention when looking
for the XP driver for your printer. They have a printer search that was
relatively easy for me to look it up and download. I just looked under
current drivers for my printer.
Good luck
