Please help! I have contacted HP for this problem and
they have given me several pages of things to try. I
have tried all but one. This is to disable the msconfig
stuff that I know nothing about. I don't know where to
find out about it, and my computer freezes up whenever I
seemto be going in the right direction. The list has
Process system.INI file
Process WIN.INI file
Load system services
Load startup items
Use originial BOOT.INI
I don't know whatany of this is, and don't know what I
can disable to try to fix this problem. Can anyone help
me with what these mean or with anything else I can try?
I can't shut down the computer normally, have to push the
off button or it will stay frozen until I do.
Thank you so much in advance!

.
In the msconfig.exe configuration utility, just select
the box for "selective startup", then uncheck the "load
startup items", then click apply, and ok, then it will do
a reboot. This will bootup with only the needed windows
programs and none of the other programs running. Did you
try the "last know good configuration" option in your
safe mode menu ?
