1. Disconnect the printer from the PC.
2. Download the HP Removal Utility for your printer from:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=2512008&dlc=en
3. In Control Panel, Printers & Faxes, from the Toolbar select File, Server
Properties, in the Drivers tab, Delete any HP L7580 drivers that may still
be there.
4. Reboot the PC.
5. Download the new driver package from HP:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=2512008&dlc=en
Install it, and do not connect the printer until the software tells you to
do so.
6. Reboot the PC.
7. Install the new firmware for the printer if you haven't already done so:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=2512008&dlc=en
8. Reboot the PC.
9. How's it working now?
If after Step 6, nothing is detected, try another USB device, it may be that
the USB Hubs/Controllers need to be uninstalled from Device Manager and the
PC rebooted. On restart, XP will reinstall their drivers if they are still
working. If nothing happens after the restart, it may be your USB ports
have died. Another thing to check is a new cable. But run through Steps 1
through 6 first and see if the PC can find the printer before we go any
further.
