I have installed a HP 1500N network printer on my very small workgroup
( 6 pcs all running winxp sp2 ) and in accordance with the
instructions, I installed it using USB onto one machine in the lan and
then set it up as a network printer. I connected it via a RJ45 cable
to the network switch and I gave it an IP address in the correct
subnet. I can ping it and print out from each machine but with one
annoying problem.
After I print out once or sometimes twice from any pc, when I try to
print out again from another machine it fails.I have to reboot the
printer and sometimes the pc before trying again.
Then another couple of test prints and it fails again . By fail I mean
that the print job ( a test print ) gets stuck in the queue and I have
to cancel it from the pc and often restart the printer to make it work
again.
Is there some setting on the network I must make in order to stop this
problem ?
Is it a network setting causing a jam situation when I Try to print
out from differeent machines ?
FYI - When the print jobs stick I can still ping the printer.
