On google I could not found it mentioned in this group. I found this
very nice application for creating VCDs from photos (slideshows, both as
a movie or still pictures) playable in a standard DVD player or on a PC.

Please forgive me if I am wrong but it looks like a free download
without any problem in the licence.

I found it at:

Opinions?

Well ... at least "free of extra charge". There's a difference.

HP provides this and many other older versions of very useful software on
CD disks to those purchasers of HP peripheral equipment who write away
to ask for it. I have been a purchaser of HP for several years, and I
continue
to get 'notices' that such things are available for the asking ... which I
do.
One presumes that they maybe do maintain a listing of names and addresses of
their customers. I count these kinds of software the same as those which
come
stuck to the face of computer magazines.... older version stuff released for
buyers of the magazine, or purchasers of HP equipment. Kind of like calling
CDXtreme by Sony a piece of freeware, although it is found online in several
places for general download. This is a gray area, but I'm willing to use it
if
they let me download it.

Yes, I think you are right. Kind of a "giveawayware"?

Anyhow, I also found a more recent version of the program (2.0) here:

http://www.futurtech.org/hp/contest.html#downloads

It is said " HP is proud to be the sponsor of the FuturTech HP "Tell
Your Story" Contest. [...] A free copy of the HP Memories Disc Creator
application is available for download immediately"

Bye!
