I need a new toner cartridge. Does anyone have any experience with the
remanufacture ones? One can save about $50 ($75 to $90 to Vs 40). My unit is
at home and it does not get heavy use.
Thoughts please.

All the remanufactured ones I've come across have given trouble; noisy,
paper jams, bad print. But then they've always been in printers I've
bought rather than specifically purchased. I am sure there are good ones
out there too.

A genuine 98A cartridge can be had for less than $40 on eBay, usually.

Remanufactured carts are usually a PITA. Stick with a new factory HP
original cart. The 98A runs about $88 at both OfficeMax and Staples. Like
the other poster stated, you can find original 98A carts on Ebay for less
than $50, but make absolutely sure it's factory sealed and never used. If I
was in your position, I'd just stick with a sure thing and pay a few bucks
more at the local office supply stores for a true factory sealed HP cart. A
new cart will last for years with normal use. My LJ 4P is 10 years old, has
9.000 pages on the counter, and on its second HP OEM cart that I bought
about 5 years ago.

That's fine advice if it takes you five years to use one cart. We use
about eight carts a year. I buy remans on eBay for an average of $15
each. About one out of about ten is bad, so I just toss it. I'm still
way ahead of the game.
