HP LJ 2300 lost network connection

I have a friend with an HP set up in Network Port Connected Direct
Mode. After a power outage, the printer will not print. It shows the IP
address as 192.168.1.91 but a ping to that address doesn't work.

We ran the Install CD and connected via the network configuration. It
says that .1.91 isn't valid and when we try to find the printer on the
network it can't find it.

We tried
* restarting the printer,
* resetting to factory defaults,
* assigning a different ip
* checking the firewall settings to make sure it wasn't being blocked

I'm starting to run out of ideas. Any other suggestions?
