hp lasetjet 1018

i just bought hp laser jet 1018, installed it on PIV with Windows 98 SE,
with it's original drivers from cd...

problem is: when i click 5 times (in word for example) printer icon -
printer prints 1 page, and then waits about 2 minutes, and then prints the
rest of 6 pages...

can anyone help?

i tried to download and install newest drivers from hp.com, and i tried to
disable spooler, and tried to disable bi-directional support.

on the same PIV computer i have win XP (dual boot) and in winxp printer
works just fine. i also tried that same 1018 on other computer with Windows
98 SE, and it did not work there either...

It's a Winprinter, so don't expect much.

Sending one print job by choosing File/Print and setting it to five
copies may be faster than sending five individual print jobs.

Otherwise, return it and insist on a printer that has at least enough
internal brains to understand PCL.
