Hello,

I picked this unit up used with NO manual or CD's (software). I want to
set it up to print connected directly to my switch so I don't have to boot a
server computer for everyone at home to use it.

It prints great when connected to the parallel port so I know it works and
it came from an environment where it was a network printer.

If I go to the MIO Menu I see that it has obtained an IP address properly
with BootP enabled. As well I have configured it manually to a non-routable
IP address, ie 192.168...etc...

The probelm is I can't see it on the network...

My OS's is WinXP Pro... what additional software/ hardware do I need to
access the printer on the network.

As well, is there a function to printout the current setup/ history if this
printer? ie memory onboard, settings, number of pages printed...

Any info on this is greatly appreciated... thanks in advance...

I bet you can. Try PINGing it from a command line.

But what you want is to make it a 'local' printer, and I guess you can
then set a network port. I would guess...dince it won't talk the SMB
file/printer sharing protocol, but the UNIX LPR one.

Can't help more on that since I don't use Windows. I have one working
just as you describe, from OS/2, and it does work fine. Just a Windows
setup problem (mind, if you can't PING it then there is a hardware
problem).

Select the Test menu, and select Self Test. Unlike the power on self
test, it prints a test page. All the settings are on there. The PCL and
PS demo pages contain some info too.

Bob your a Genius, hehe

Yes I could ping it...

once I set up the TCP/IP address as a port, voilà - it worked perfect.

It's always the simple things that get overlooked...

Thanks again

BTW I set a static IP as I power these things down and don't need my router
'hiding' it on me.
