I believe it needs 72-pin non-parity SIMMs (not DIMMs), but you are not
limited to HP.

Why not just try the SIMMs you have, and do a test print to check how
much memory is being recognised. It won't damage the printer if it is
not recognised.

Roy,

You can use any 72pin EDO DIMM. I forget what is the largest capacity
DRAM that you can put in. I think we put in 32MB or 64MB modules with
no problem.

Thanks Mike !

I have a couple of MGV K97-0787 8MB 2X32 memory blocks that I tried in the
printer and it doesn't recognize them, any ideas ?

They're not EDO, they pre-date that. Ordinary 72 pin SIMMs (parity or
non parity) will work fine as long as they have the correct coding pins
connected. SIMMs from IBM PS/2s work fine.

Not certain but I think the SIMMS have to be 70ns or slower; 60 ns won't
work.

don't forget to tell the printer driver that it's there.

Shawn Behrens' pages that I gave in an earlier post are great for all
owners of older Laserjets. I hope that they're still there - I can't
tell 'cos I've got them cached in my computer as "Favourites".

Hi Tom !!

Thanks , I did try the SIMMs that I have, they weren't recognized, I did
pick up 16megs of EDO 70ns at a computer recycle shop yesterday for $9.00
after reading these replies, they plugged in and worked fine. I just hope
that 16megs is enough, I produce a news letter on legal size paper printed
on both sides and my printer has a duplexer, it wouldn't duplex legal size
with 4 megs of memory, out of memory error, I don't know how much memory it
will take, so now it experimenting time !

Thanks Mike !

I picked up 16meg EDO at the computer recycle shop yesterday, they only had
4 meg blocks. My printer has a duplexer and with only 4 megs it wouldn't
duplex legal size paper, I hope 16megs is enough ?
