hp laserjet 2300 no lights

To all guru's,
I have a laserjet 2300, was working until I brought it home. Powers
up, makes the usual sounds. But no lights come on. Nothing shows in
the led window or ready light box. Was not dropped. Please help!

If I understand correctly, no LED's light up, the display is blank but the fan
is running and the motors trun when you apply power.
If that is correct then the issue has nothing to do with the cable to the PC or
driver installation.
First thing to check is the cable that connects to the control panel, make sure
it is firmly connected both ends.
