HP LaserJet 1100A - How do I Fix Multiple Sheet Feed Problem?

Hello,

Well the subject pretty much covers it. Unless I keep the feed "tray" nearly
full
and at the same time apply a bit of pressure with my fingers to the left and
right
edges of the sheet stack, the printer will "eat" two, three, or even a lot
more blank
sheets for each page printed. My father is having the exact same problem
with his.
I've tried cleaning the rollers, using "thicker" paper all to no avail. Does
anyone have
repair (or adjustment) instructions for this printer's paper feed system to
return it to
normal operation (i.e. one sheet goes in for one sheet printed on...).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks,

- G

Paper separation pad. The rubber pad under the paper pickup roller. Try
cleaning it first. If that doesn't do it, it needs replacing but a quick
fix for a short time is to roughen it. You could try scoring it lightly
with a craft knife.

The permanent fix is to replace the Separation pad and the sub pads, if you are
going to do this then I strongly suggest that you replace the pick up roller as
well (normal practice since they all wear out at about the same time). The
parts are available. I did a quick serach and found
http://www.precisionroller.com/manufacturers/hp-laserjet-1100a.html

Pick up roller Z1100
Separation Pad E8065
Sub Pad kit (2 pads) Z1090

US$18 for the lot (I assume taxes and shipping are extra)
You might find them elsewhere cheaper, try googling the HP part numbers that
are listed on the above site.

Firstly though go to
http://www.partsnow.com/service_today/0401.asp
to see how the job is done and whether you are confident to do it. You won't
need the special tool to remove the pods if you are careful. The task is fiddly
but not hard, just needs care.

BTW you can buy roller kits for this printer that also include transfer charge
rollers etc, you shouldn't need to replace those parts so the 3 parts above
should do the trick.

HEY THANKS A BUNCH!!! I ordered the parts needed to fix both my printer and
my father's
especially since the site had a minimum $25.00 order. A hell of a lot
cheaper than buying a new
printer!!! I'll let you know how it goes....

Again Thanks!
