HP ink cartridges.

Hello
On a HP Deskjet 840 C, is there any way to be able to replace cartridges
15(black) and 17(color) by respectively 45(black) and 78(color) where I have
some cartridges in inventory.
I heard that it was possible provided you patch some of the electrical
contacts with insulating tape.
Is this true ?
How do I do this ?

For the #45, there is a trick of covering certain contacts, BUT, it also
has the side effect of disables some nozzles, giving a streaky output.

I don't konw if there is a way to use a #78 in place of the #17.

I will leave the 15/45 discussion for others, but I can categorically state
that the 78 and 17 are not in any way compatible. The 78 cartridge is a later
design that has more than twice as many nozzles, an entirely different
electrical pad layout and different requirements for firing voltage and
frequencies. Do not put a 78 cartridge in a printer designed for the 17 or 23
cartridges; you will likely damage the 78 cartridge.

I just realized the #17 is the low-capacity version of the #23, not the
#78.
