Did anyone notice that on July 1st, HP removed ALL drivers for any OS'
before Windows 2000? You can no longer get drivers for any NT or 9x
systems, even ones which were posted online as of 6/30. You also cannot
any longer order CDs with these drivers. Either you have the driver
already (on CD or saved download), or you know someone else who has it,
or you are screwed. This was applicable to ALL HP products, across the
board, not just printers.

Just another reason I stay away from anything made by HP.

Hi!

What I'd like to know is why they took this route...and if perhaps the
drivers are still present on their FTP site but not linked to from support
pages...

I suppose I should look into the latter possibility...

Doesn't alldrivers.com has these drivers?

Well, that is just not true, I just checked on drivers for an old Omnibook
500 and they are still available.

What driver do you need?

As this was posted in comp.periphs.printers, I think the reference was to
drivers for printers not notebooks.

But Barry said "ALL HP products", not printers. I suspect there is more to
the story than anyone here has at this point, and there are many
misstatements and idle speculations.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=60097&os=20&lang=en
says "Microsoft has stopped providing and supporting certain files related
specifically to Windows 98 SE, and this change affects all technology
companies. HP, along with other technology companies, is no longer able to
use selected components in support of Windows 98SE, which has an impact on
our software strategy for Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, and Windows Me."

It sounds like there may be some licensing issues from Microsoft, but this
is just more idle speculation.

Umbrage aside, does anyone here actually need a driver for a printer
installed in Win 98SE that they cannot now find? I would like to hear some
specific examples.

Hi,

I am looking for a driver for an HP Deskjet 3920 for Windows 98.

Do you happen to know where I could find it?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am looking for a driver for an HP Deskjet 3920 for Windows 98.

Do you happen to know where I could find it?

A quick Google search for "Deskjet 3920 Windows 98 driver" (without the
quotes) turned up several hits on the first page. I downloaded the driver
from driverguide.com using the option to look at a few ads.
