HP Deskjet via Wireless Print Server Spool problems?

When I print to my printer, HP5550C via my wireless Linksys WPS11 it takes a
long time after the print has completed before the printer goes back to an
idle state or prints the next document. Post printing it seems to take
approx 2 minutes to clear the printer icon from the windows XP taskbar and
the printer online light flashes whilst the icon remains. If I shutdown my
PC whilst the icon remains, when I boot back up again, the printer prints
out the last document again.
Also, my printer has an option to query the ink levels from the print
driver. If I attempt to do this, I get an error saying that "The computer
is unable to establish to-way communication with the device".

The Linksys manyual says that the WPS supports bi-tronic mode.
Does anyone else get these problems and are they fixable?

No matter what else you do, you *can* disable the print monitor
application and probably improve the overall performance of both the
computer and the printer. Start/Run command/Type in: msconfig
[OK]/Select the Startup Tab/find the hp application(s) and uncheck the
box. Use this site to identify startup apps:
