Hi,

Does anyone know if I could get some "permanent ink" for my Deskjet 340
(it's a portable printer released in 1997) ?

In a more general way, is there a way to "permanent" print with a printer
that was not designed to do so ?

What about today's inkjet printers ? I know for the Durabrite series by
Epson, whose ink is water and sun resistant. But what about the others
manufacturers ? Why can't we find such information in the tech
specifications of most printers ?

I think this can be a very important topic when buying an inkjet printer.
Don't people care if they write a letter for some legal reason and that
letter becomes unreadable after the recipient put some water or coffee on
it ? What if the court needs the letter as a proof in a case ?
I really wonder about such things since I discovered that my lawyer herself
uses some "non-permanent" inkjet printer...

Every comment welcome !

That's what cheap, thrift store or auction purchaded laser printers are
good for. :) Maybe your lawyer would appreciate a gift of a LaserJet 4?
If she's a Mac user, get the PostScript SIMM, specific one for each model
in the 4 series so you need the exact one. And if she has more than one
computer in the office, get an MIO slot JetDirect printserver for it.

If she's a really good lawyer, spring a few extra $ for a LaserJet 5.

OTOH, she's a lawyer, unless she does mostly pro bono public defense
work, she ought to be able to afford her own (censored) laser printer. ;)

I read somewhere on hp's web site that its black ink is water resistent,
not waterproof. Lexmark sells a waterproof ink cartridge. MICR ink is
supposed to be waterproof.
