I have been trying to install my printer for days!!!!
Is there a special driver I need for it to work with
windows xp? I just recently got xp before I had windows
98.
If any one can tell me what exactly to do I'd really
appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem with XP. I have an old HP
Deskjet 550C. If you figure out what you're doing wrong,
let me know ! Phyllis

www.hp.com for the latest XP drivers.. when downloaded, remove the printer
from the configuration, then set up printer according to HP but use the new
drivers that you have downloaded..

Joni ... go to the HP site and download the WinXP drivers at
http://tinyurl.com/pxms But, before you install them, follow the
step-by-step instructions for uninstalling the old and installing the new at
Cari's website http://tinyurl.com/mk4r

Phyllis ... I'm afraid you're out of luck in getting updated HP
software/drivers for that relatively old printer. You'll have to use the
basic drivers provided with XP. Use Cari's site for
uninstalling/reinstalling drivers. HP has also provided a site to assist
you in installing the XP drivers at http://tinyurl.com/tgit

you can go to the hp website www.hp.com
query for drivers and updates listing your hp printer
type...they have a check utility that will check to see
if your driver is the latest..for xp, they say to use the
unidriv driver that comes with xp....but it stinks.
you'll lose detail, colorsmart options, media size
options...just about everything that made you proud to
own a hp printer. i know i would like a better solution!!
