HP Deskjet 950c - problem with 'red light' blinking?

Hello, my printer has been very useful despite alot of use.
Recently, the 'red light' keeps blinking and the printer won't print?
I have put in a replacement colour cartridge, this seemed to work for
a while, then it's started over again?
Any help or advice would be very appreciated.

It is possible that the black cartridge is now empty. Firstly I suggest that
you clean the contacts on the back of both cartridges with a damp cloth.
The black cartridge is not foam filled so if you shake it you should hear ink
sloshing around in it unless it is empty, very easy way to check. The colour
cartridge is filled with foam so you cannot check it the same way.

Is the formfeed light or the cartridge light blinking? See

for some tips on fixing blinking lights. You can also turn on the printer,
then open the lid. The carriage will move to one of five positions indicated
by a molded icon in the upper portion of the printer. See

for details. If you have a sad face for one of the cartridges remove that
cartridge and try cleaning the contacts as shown at:
