having reviewed this newsgroup it seems Windows XP
drivers for HP drivers aren't much good! I have similar
problem to several others, after upgrading to XP and
using the supplied driver I now have problems...
My printer continually hangs in the middle of printing
word documents - the lights just flash and there is no
message. The only way to clear it is to turn off the
printer, when I turn on again it prints gibberish so I
have to cancel the print and start again.
This printer still works perfectly on a windows 98 system
with office 2000 and the HP supplied driver.
Unfortunately that driver wont install on the XP system
and so I am stuck with the microsoft supplied one.
Any suggestions?

Mary ... In addition, after following Cari's previous advice, you might try
the Win2000 drivers from the HP site at http://snurl.com/2rw5
It should give you back the advanced features you were used to with the old
Win98 software. Nothing wrong with the XP drivers, they're just very basic
and their only function is to allow your printer to work ... no double sided
printing, etc.
